Canadian Orthopaedic Resident Review in Trauma
(CORR-TRAUMA)

November 22nd – 24th, 2012
Sheraton Four Points, Toronto Airport
Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Dear Orthopaedic Residents,

It is a great pleasure to announce this year’s 5th Annual Canadian Orthopaedic Resident Review in Trauma course (CORR-TRAUMA). The CORR-TRAUMA course will be held at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Toronto Airport, in Mississauga, Ontario from November 22 to 24, 2012. Previous CORR-TRAUMA courses have been very successful and well-received.

The CORR-TRAUMA course is designed to provide orthopaedic residents with a comprehensive orthopaedic trauma review. The 3-day course will cover aspects of orthopaedic trauma management over five topic areas: Shoulder and Elbow; the Forearm and Wrist; the Hip and Femur; the Knee, Tibia, Ankle, and Foot; and the Pelvis, Acetabulum, Spine, and Advanced Trauma Life Support. This year’s course will also include a curriculum on pediatric trauma. The course will include lectures based on a “Top 10 Things You Need to Know” format, as well as small breakout case-based learning sessions. The small group scenario sessions will yield a high faculty to participant ratio, which will create a dynamic learning environment. Sessions will be delivered by our highly regarded faculty, which has been compiled with representatives from universities across Canada. Accordingly, sections of this course will be offered in both English and French.

In addition to the topic-oriented sessions, the CORR-TRAUMA course offers the opportunity for orthopaedic residents to partake in a mock oral examination within an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) style format at the conclusion of the course. This optional post course examination will also include grading and immediate feedback provided by our renowned faculty members. We strongly believe that this program will give participants a comprehensive review of the relevant knowledge of current orthopaedic trauma management.

The CORR-TRAUMA course is available to orthopaedic residents at three different levels. The gold level includes participation in the 3-day course, a collection of “Top 10 Things You Need to Know” slides, an OSCE style examination with feedback, and access to online cases. The silver level includes participation in the 3-day course, a collection of “Top 10 Things You Need to Know” slides, and an OSCE style examination with feedback. The bronze level includes participation in the 3-day course and a collection of “Top 10 Things You Need to Know” slides. Please note that these levels are fixed and access to the online cases is only available through a gold level registration. Registration fees for the three levels are available on the registration form to follow.

Registration is now open and available by mail or online at the course website: www.cmecourses.ca. We encourage you to register early, as space is limited. Our Course Coordinator is available to assist you with all aspects of the registration process. Please feel free to contact the Course Coordinator at (289) 337-0857 or by email at coordinator@cmecourses.ca. We offer you a very warm invitation to attend the CORR-TRAUMA course in November 2012.
